The International Young Christian Students (IYCS) Asia together with the host movement, Young Christian Students (YCS) Thailand will hold the 6th Asian Chaplains and Animators Formation Exchange (CAFE) Program with the theme, “Called to be Ambassadors of Christ (2 Cor. 5:20): Student’s Education in this Hour of Inter-culturality and Religious Pluralism” on November 7-15, 2011 at the St. Louis Mary Juniorate, Sriracha, Chon-buri, Thailand. This program aims to gather 55 animators and priests from 15 countries in Asia where YCS is present. This program was supposed to be in Dhaka, Bangladesh but for financial reasons, we decided to move to Thailand. We are very glad that despite the short notice, YCS Thailand posi-tively accepted the request. The Asian office will be giving YCS Thailand the necessary help to facilitate the preparations and the carrying out of the actual program. This CAFE is organized once in every three years. The last IYCS Asian CAFE was held in December 2008 hosted by YCS Philippines.

This CAFE program aims:

  • To generate formation for chaplains and animators on the basic skills in facilitation and animation of YCS.
  • To keep them abreast with the current trends and issues affecting the student’s life and spirituality today.
  • To create a platform where all the chaplains and animators from different countries, different culture in Asia can exchange their experiences on Apostolic service for students and learn from each other.
  • To deepen and broaden their understanding and practice on the YCS Review of Life methodology See-Judge-Act and the reality of IYCS movement today.
  • To empower the concept of students accompaniment not only in the movement but also in the students’ life.
  • To plan for the future action of Asian chaplains and animators in response to students’ reality nowadays.
  • To celebrate being part of the Catholic Church and reaffirm the commitment to reintroduce Jesus to the students and youth.
